Chapter 6 – That Damn Scoundrel!

"Slice that little bastard into a thousand pieces!"

Hearing Qin Guan's words, Chen Shaojie's face twisted into a terrifying snarl. How dare a lowly piece of trash insult his family!

The moment the words left his mouth, the two guards behind him instantly appeared before Qin Guan.

*Thud! Thud!*

The two guards were fast, but they were sent flying even faster. Before they could even make a move, they were spitting blood as they flew backward.

"Argh!"

Before Chen Shaojie could react, the world around him blurred. Qin Guan slammed his head into the floor with one hand, causing him to spit out a mouthful of blood and shattered teeth.

*Thud!*

Qin Guan stomped his foot on Chen Shaojie's head.

"Young man, stop! He's the young master of our Tianbao Pavilion, you..."

Before the spiritual material shop owner could finish, Nan Rou suddenly grabbed Qin Guan and bolted. In the blink of an eye, they vanished into the crowd.

"A bunch of ushelessh... Go get'em!" Chen Shaojie roared, clutching his bloody mouth. With most of his teeth gone, his words were airy and slurred.

Meanwhile, Nan Rou dragged Qin Guan through the streets, specifically ducking into deserted alleyways.

Qin Guan was a little surprised. The girl looked so delicate, but how was she so strong!

*Pant, pant...*

Before long, Nan Rou pulled Qin Guan into a corner to hide, panting heavily.

"Guan... Brother Guan, we need to go home and hide! That... that person is the young master of Tianbao Pavilion!"

Nan Rou glanced around nervously, her little face pale with fright.

Tianbao Pavilion was an existence the Nan Family absolutely could not afford to offend. Even with ten times the courage, they wouldn't dare.

The moment she heard the man was Tianbao Pavilion's young master, she had dragged Qin Guan away without a second's hesitation.

Qin Guan raised his left hand, waggling the spiritual materials in it with a grin. "We haven't paid yet!"

"Aiyah!"

Speechless, Nan Rou said no more and continued dragging Qin Guan toward the Nan Family estate.

They didn't stop until they had entered the Nan Family's gates, reached her personal courtyard, and locked the gate behind them.

"Brother Guan, they don't know you're the Nan Family's son-in-law, do they?" Nan Rou asked worriedly in the courtyard.

Qin Guan shook his head. "They shouldn't."

"That's good. And they probably don't recognize me either. I haven't left the house in years," Nan Rou nodded, sighing in slight relief.

"We were wandering the main street for quite a while. I don't think it would be hard for them to trace us back to the Nan Family," Qin Guan said with a sudden smile.

"Then what do we do?!"

Hearing Qin Guan's words, Nan Rou grew anxious again.

The thought of Qin Guan knocking out all of the young master's teeth sent a wave of panic through her. The Nan Family's strength was nowhere near enough to protect Qin Guan. Besides, if her father and stepmother found out, they would be furious!

Realizing the severity of the situation, Nan Rou was on the verge of tears. What had started as a happy shopping trip had turned into a disaster.

*Knock, knock, knock!*

Just then, a series of knocks came from the courtyard gate.

Hearing the knocking, Nan Rou jumped in fright.

"Don't be afraid," Qin Guan said, walking over to open the gate.

An old matron walked in with a cheerful smile.

"Young Master-in-law, Young Miss, your wedding day is in two days. The Master has sent this old servant to take your measurements for your wedding attire."

Nan Rou let out a long sigh of relief. She had nearly been scared to death.

"Matron, please come with me," Nan Rou said, leading the old woman into the house.

The matron took out many embroidered samples for Nan Rou and Qin Guan to choose from.

Knowing that Qin Guan didn't like overly ornate designs, Nan Rou chose a set of wedding robes in pure red without too many patterns. Qin Guan looked at it and expressed his approval.

After they selected the sample, the matron began to take Qin Guan and Nan Rou's measurements.

Meanwhile, Chen Shaojie had frantically sent his men to search everywhere for Qin Guan and Nan Rou.

And upon seeing his son beaten to a pulp, Pavilion Master Chen Guangling immediately dropped everything he was doing. He dispatched his personal guards to investigate the matter thoroughly, vowing to have the assailant torn limb from limb!

Evening, in a luxurious inn.

"Young Miss, we have information on the young man we encountered on the river the other day," a shadow guard reported to a white-robed woman standing by the window.

"Speak."

"The young man is named Qin Guan. His background and strength are unknown. We only know that he came to Luyun City to marry into the Nan Family as their son-in-law," the shadow guard said.

"The Nan Family? A live-in son-in-law?" Hearing this, the white-robed woman turned, her elegant brows furrowing. She asked again, "What is the Nan Family's standing?"

"The Nan Family is merely a third-rate family in Luyun City. Very weak," the shadow guard replied.

"Understood." The white-robed woman waved her hand, and the shadow guard quickly retreated.

"Interesting," a green-robed elder mused, stroking his beard after the shadow guard left.

"Old Xu, it seems he didn't come for Wanyao Valley," the white-robed woman said.

"He is in Luyun City now. He will surely find out when the Wanyao Valley Secret Realm opens," Old Xu stated.

Hearing this, the white-robed woman nodded slightly.

"For someone so powerful to marry into a third-rate family... how very interesting. Old Xu, after we visit Tianbao Pavilion, let's pay that young man a visit."

Old Xu nodded.

"That boy will definitely be interested in the secret realm. Currently, the three major powers from the Imperial Capital—the Royal Family, the Spirit Sword Academy, and the Yunlan Sect—are all aware of this place. If we can pull that boy to our side, it would be of great help to us."

"Master, have you heard? Chen Shaojie, the young master of Tianbao Pavilion, was beaten up at the pavilion today! He barely has any teeth left!"

At the Nan Family's dinner table, Yang Hongmei's eyes gleamed as she spoke to Nan Yunqi with a hint of schadenfreude.

Nan Yunqi nodded.

"I've heard a little about it. They say a young man did it. How audacious, to dare strike the young master of Tianbao Pavilion! Whichever family raised such a troublemaker must have had eight lifetimes of bad luck!"

"Reporting to the Family Head! It's... it's bad! Something terrible has happened!" A servant came scrambling and tripping into the room from outside.

"You'll be the death of me!" The sudden entrance of the servant nearly scared the soul out of Yang Hongmei.

"What's with all the panic?!" Nan Yunqi stood up.

"Out... outside! The Pavilion Master of Tianbao Pavilion... Chen Guangling! He's brought dozens of men and says he's going to annihilate the Nan Family!"

"What?!"

Hearing the report, Nan Yunqi felt as if his head had been struck by a heavy club, his mind buzzing.

Yang Hongmei's face changed drastically as well. "Are you mistaken? Why would Tianbao Pavilion want to annihilate our Nan Family out of the blue?"

"They said... it was the Young Master-in-law, Qin Guan, who beat up Chen Shaojie!"

"What?!"

"So it was that damn scoundrel! That Unlucky Person! He's trying to drag our Nan Family down with him!" Yang Hongmei cursed, nearly fainting from rage.

Nan Yunqi was also furious. How could Qin Guan dare to strike the young master of Tianbao Pavilion? He was the scion of a powerful family! The Nan Family was in for a disaster!

"Nan Yunqi, get your ass out here right now!"

Just then, an enraged roar echoed from the courtyard outside.
