Chapter 36 – Repair, Growth! The Terrifying Power of the Gluttony Mask

"Fuck! You son of a bitch! %$#$!" Kirk suddenly burst out cursing. The emotions he had painstakingly built up crumbled instantly. He had never seen a player like this before.

He had been deep in thought, considering that what was said made some sense, and maybe this guy had some extraordinary considerations.

But just as he was getting serious, the other guy asked if it was breakfast.

Why the hell don't you just say it's your last meal before execution?

Are you still not cured?

What time is it now?

Kirk's face turned red with anger, pointing at Lu Ce and letting out a stream of words.

But he couldn't really curse anything out. Investigating a mental hospital, and it turns out there's a lunatic in the team—how is this going to work?

Lu Ce lay on the ground, looking at the furious Kirk, and asked curiously as if meeting him for the first time, "Oh my God, what's wrong? Poor Tom? Is that white cat playing with your feelings again?"

[I'm Tom.]

[I'm not pitiful, and by the way, it's Great Tom!]

In the corner, the tin robot that had turned its head added seriously, then turned its head back.

The female player lowered her head speechlessly, feeling a splitting headache.

Big Guy immediately started cursing again, re-bandaging himself, having burst two blood vessels in anger earlier.

The whole scene turned into a farce.

The previously serious atmosphere was instantly dismantled, and no one thought about the medicine issue anymore, as if everything was the ramblings of a mentally disturbed person.

Jiu Tian originally had a headache too. He thought Lu Ce, being an extraordinary person, would do something unusual. He had been pondering, but now it seemed better not to think too much.

Don't end up following a madman's thoughts and get yourself killed in this hell game.

The team is hard to lead...

But thinking of what his colleague said about Lu Ce's top-tier combat power, and now they can't have internal problems, he quickly stepped in to mediate:

"Everyone, calm down first. Let's focus on the game and not fight among ourselves."

"Hmm? The man in the red suit?" Lu Ce seemed to just recognize Jiu Tian.

Jiu Tian's mouth twitched.

Buddy, aren't you supposed to be mentally unstable?

How come you remember the nickname you gave me so clearly?

"Go fuck away from me!" Kirk didn't want to say anything more, leaving a cold remark before walking away from the crowd to sit further away.

The team doesn't exist; these useless people either have no effect or are like that lunatic, just a liability!

He could only plan the next steps himself.

Lu Ce lay on his back on the ground, as if he hadn't heard anything, immersed in his chaotic world.

He had called out "the man in the red suit" deliberately, as a small responsibility towards the team.

He was sending a signal—that he hadn't completely lost his mind!

If he didn't let his mind be chaotic, he wouldn't be able to enjoy the bonuses from the Gluttony Mask, so he indulged in his irrational actions, letting his body go.

However, he still maintained the most basic rationality. After all, becoming a permanent lunatic, controlled by the mask, was unacceptable.

Whether anyone received or understood the signal he sent was uncertain.

He was now enjoying, experiencing, the feeling of power.

The side effects of the Gluttony Mask were high, but the special power boost far exceeded the Greed Mask!

112 portions of food, 700 unknown pills, brought immense energy.

Lu Ce felt like there was a powder keg inside him, ready to unleash immense power at any moment. The previous iron-cutting slash was just a small feat.

The surging energy swelled within him, and as a little was absorbed, it repaired his body and increased his strength.

Previously, when Long Wu attacked him in the room, he let the other tear at him, gaining four or five Pain Value points.

But now, in the eyes of other players, he was just in tattered clothes, and no one noticed he was injured.

Because the wounds had all healed!

The energy accumulated in his body had an abnormal healing ability on such external wounds.

Moreover, his strength had increased from 24 points to 25 points!

To be precise, all his attributes, except for Spirit, had increased by one point!

This wasn't his allocation of points but the terrifying effect of the Gluttony Mask. The powerful energy, once slightly absorbed by the body, had such an effect.

He wanted to enjoy this mask, as long as his baseline rationality remained, the surface chaos didn't matter.

And perhaps, because of the chaotic thoughts aligning with this place...

He felt that with this chaotic and unclear mind, he could think more clearly about many things...

Like those pills, like these people.

...

The argument ended, and there was still some time before lunch.

Kirk faced the wall, thinking about something alone, while Lu Ce lay motionless on the ground. No one knew what these two perfect-clear players were planning.

Jiu Tian tried to start a conversation several times, wanting to see if there was any news and what plans there were.

But the responses were few. During breakfast time, everyone had received a common piece of information: one was that patients would calm down after taking medicine, and the other was that patients would claim they weren't sick.

Very typical of mental illness.

This information didn't help much with the task, and Jiu Tian hesitated before finally sharing his own piece of information.

"My patient told me something. Besides saying he wasn't sick... he also said he was innocent."

"I don't know if it's useful, but please consider it."

Big Guy and the woman didn't react much, but Kirk and Lu Ce, lying on the ground, noticeably perked up their ears.

[Lunch is about to start, you all know the rules, get ready.]

Time had almost passed, and the door opened once again. Tom the Tin Robot rolled out of the room on his tracks.

[Lunch Time begins, please start the game!]

Kirk slowly opened his eyes and walked towards the door.

In the history of international medicine, the severity of mental illness has never been definitively classified.

And here, they had to find the person with the most severe illness, yet all the patients claimed they weren't sick.

It seemed they needed to change their approach...

Thinking this, he turned back to look at Lu Ce.
