Chapter 23 – He's not very bright

Soon, Chen Xun found himself surrounded by a group of disgruntled servant disciples.

Those who hadn't been disturbed by Chen Xun also gathered around, not to cause trouble but purely to watch the spectacle.

Chen Xun had been running merrily, but now, surrounded by the servant disciples, his space to move was shrinking. He had no choice but to stop, his expression turning angry as he said, "What are you doing? You've ruined my fun, don't you know?"

The disciples were taken aback.

Huh?

What a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Who was disturbing whom here?

One disciple spoke in a deep voice, "Kid, this is the Martial Arena, a place where many disciples practice daily. We, who were forced out of our training state by your disturbance, haven't even questioned you yet, and here you are claiming we ruined your fun? Have you no shame?"

Seeing someone take the lead, the other disciples chimed in:

"Exactly, judging by your clothes, you must be a new disciple who hasn't had the chance to change into disciple robes yet? Considering you're new and don't know the rules, just apologize to us, and we won't make things difficult for you, hmph!"

"Brother Guo, you're being too polite. If you ask me, with so many of us here, we should just beat him up. I'm so angry!"

"Uh, does anyone else think there's something off about this guy..."

"Who cares, he must apologize, or this guy won't have a good time in the coming days!"

The disciples spoke one after another, glaring at Chen Xun.

If it weren't for the fact that they were in the Martial Arena and the unwritten rule at Servants' Peak that new disciples have a three-day protection period, they would have already acted.

"Ha ha ha!"

Suddenly, Chen Xun burst into wild laughter, hands on his hips, chin raised arrogantly, "You're right! You should apologize to me, or you'll be the ones in trouble."

What? Huh?!

Is this guy out of his mind?

The disciples were dumbfounded, thinking they must have misheard, but soon anger surged within them, and they couldn't hold back any longer. They had to teach this madman a lesson today!

"Damn it, get him! We're in the right, Steward Qian won't punish us!"

"Beat him up! Just leave him breathing!"

The disciples couldn't care less about the consequences and rolled up their sleeves, ready to surround and pummel Chen Xun.

Chen Xun's face showed no trace of panic. He continued to laugh maniacally, shaking his head as he watched the scene unfold, while one hand slowly reached for the sword hilt on his back...

"Stop!!"

At that moment, a low shout suddenly rang out.

The servant disciples paused their actions, turning sharply to see who dared to interfere. But upon seeing the newcomer's attire, their expressions changed, and they quickly stopped, bowing and saying:

"Greetings, Senior Brother."

The other disciples watching the commotion in the Martial Arena were also taken aback, bowing and saying, "Greetings, Senior Brother."

The disciple in the outer sect attire walked over with a sullen face, and the servant disciples made way for him.

It was Xu Yang, of course.

After leaving the pavilion, Xu Yang had been looking for Chen Xun. Noticing the commotion at the Martial Arena, he guessed that Chen Xun was likely there.

After all, on the ship earlier, Xu Yang had already noticed that Chen Xun was a troublemaker.

Upon arriving, it was exactly as he had guessed—it was indeed Chen Xun!

Xu Yang quickly walked up to Chen Xun, intending to reprimand him, but remembering Zhao Ting, he held back.

There was no choice; though Chen Xun was crazy, he had connections.

"Come with me to the pavilion."

Xu Yang said.

Xu Yang didn't bother asking why Chen Xun had left the group on his own to come to the Martial Arena, because he knew it would be pointless—Chen Xun wasn't a normal person.

Seeing that Chen Xun ignored him, Xu Yang's expression darkened, and he had to forcibly grab Chen Xun's sleeve to lead him away.

The servant disciples watched in shock, now looking at Chen Xun with a hint of apprehension.

Wow, a connected guy!

In Servants' Peak, some servant disciples were indeed connected, either relatives of outer sect disciples or inner sect disciples, and they lived quite comfortably.

Who would've thought this guy was also connected?

With this in mind, the servant disciples who had considered reporting Chen Xun to Xu Yang had no choice but to swallow their grievances.

Suddenly, Chen Xun shook off Xu Yang's hand and loudly declared, "They haven't apologized to me, I'm not leaving."

Xu Yang: "..."

Servant disciples: "..."

The disciples listened to Chen Xun's words and observed his demeanor, finally realizing that he was indeed out of his mind...

Xu Yang asked in a deep voice, "What did they do that requires them to apologize to you?"

Xu Yang could guess with his eyes closed that it was Chen Xun who had caused trouble first.

Chen Xun crossed his arms, arrogantly tilting his head, saying nothing.

"Uh, Senior Brother, it's like this, we really didn't offend him. He was the one causing a ruckus in the Martial Arena, disturbing our training. Please see the truth, Senior Brother!"

One disciple hurriedly explained.

Xu Yang looked at the other servant disciples, seeing them nod quickly, confirming the truth.

"This..." Xu Yang was in a bind, but thinking of Zhao Ting, he coughed and said, "You should just apologize to him."

What?

The servant disciples were stunned for a moment, then felt indignant.

This was too unfair!

But given Xu Yang's status, those who had been forced out of their training had to swallow their pride, deciding it was better to apologize and avoid further trouble.

However, before they could apologize, Xu Yang's next words made them feel much better.

"Fellow junior brothers and sisters, you must have noticed that Chen Xun isn't quite right in the head, and his thinking is vastly different from normal people. I hope you can understand and give me some face."

Xu Yang sighed, cupping his hands.

So this madman is called Chen Xun?

With Xu Yang's explanation, everyone understood that Chen Xun was indeed a madman.

What puzzled them, though, was why the sect would accept a madman as a disciple.

Even if it's just a servant disciple, it shouldn't be like this.

"Chen Xun, we apologize to you."

The disciples sighed.

Chen Xun panicked, stepping back and hurriedly cupping his hands, exclaiming, "You've overestimated me, I can't accept this!"

"......"

The disciples were speechless. They had been asked to apologize, and now that they did, what was the meaning of this reaction?

The disciples couldn't help but look at Xu Yang with tearful faces, silently asking, Senior Brother, what does he want?

This guy is truly a madman!

To be fair, knowing that Chen Xun was genuinely mad, the disciples felt no anger towards him and could understand.

Xu Yang was also feeling awkward because of Chen Xun. He cupped his hands again to the crowd and then, without another word, pulled Chen Xun away from the Martial Arena.

The disciples watched the backs of Xu Yang and Chen Xun as they left, their faces filled with wry smiles.

They realized that with this madman Chen Xun around, Servants' Peak was going to be much livelier in the future.
