Chapter 5 – A warning from a top student

The test consisted of a comprehensive set of questions divided into four major sections: history, geography, biology, and materials.

Unlike Chen Shu's previous knowledge, these were all related to Beast Taming.

For instance, history focused on the events of the nine hundred years of the Revival Calendar, including various wars, changes, and reforms.

Geography covered the locations of Spatial Gates around the world and the climatic features within the Dimensional Realms.

Biology studied the habits and combat characteristics of Ferocious Beasts within the Dimensional Realms.

As for materials, the focus was on the appearance, characteristics, and value of various Rare Materials found in the Dimensional Realms.

High school education covered a wide range of topics, but they were mostly basic knowledge. Only in college could one pursue advanced studies.

This aspect was similar to the previous world.

The afternoon passed, and the pleasant sound of the school bell rang.

Chen Shu wrote furiously, finally completing all the multiple-choice questions.

"If nothing unexpected happens, I should score in the double digits..."

He sighed, finding the knowledge on the paper utterly incomprehensible.

"Alright, hand in your test papers, and you can go home," Fang Ke stood up and announced.

Unlike ordinary students, Beast Students didn't have evening self-study; instead, they practiced Training Beast Power.

Improving Beast Power required humans to absorb Spiritual Power from the world.

The so-called Revival Calendar was actually the Spiritual Revival Calendar.

Nine hundred and eighty years ago, Spiritual Power gradually appeared on the planet, leading to the emergence of Beast Masters among humans.

To enhance one's strength, one must persistently train Beast Power.

This was true for both ordinary families and prominent families.

Of course, Beast Students with backgrounds would use various Elixirs and train in environments rich in Spiritual Power to speed up their training.

Students handed in their test papers and left the classroom one after another.

Just as Chen Shu was about to leave, a voice suddenly called out.

"Chen Shu, stop!"

"Hmm?"

Chen Shu turned around to see a boy in a black T-shirt, arms crossed, looking at him.

"Let me introduce myself, I'm Wang Meng!"

Wang Meng approached slowly, his eyes unfriendly.

Several other boys gathered around, rolling up their sleeves, creating a sense of pressure.

Was this campus bullying?

Chen Shu immediately thought, already preparing for various scenarios.

Should I shout and run?

Or just bolt straight away?

"This is Beast Class Five, and I hope you don't become a troublemaker, affecting everyone's studies. Otherwise, don't blame me for being rude."

Wang Meng's face was fierce as he approached Chen Shu.

"What? Affecting everyone's studies?"

Chen Shu was momentarily stunned.

It was like a bewildering fruit under a bewildering tree, you and I before the bewildering tree.

He was being warned not to disrupt the class's studies? What was going on?

Did the students in the Beast Class have such a high level of awareness?

"Do you understand?"

Wang Meng frowned slightly, repeating himself.

"Got it, I totally got it." Chen Shu nodded quickly, obediently.

"That's good. I'm the class monitor of Beast Class Five. If anyone from another class bullies you, let me know anytime."

Wang Meng nodded, switching to a righteous demeanor.

Apparently, pretending to be tough was quite tiring for him.

What seemed like a potential fight turned out to be encouragement from a top student.

Chen Shu shook his head, ready to go home and train his Beast Power.

The evening training time was free, and the school wouldn't force anyone to train.

But regardless of a student's background, everyone would diligently train on their own.

Beast Students could have poor cultural grades, but their Beast Rank must not be low, as it was the most important indicator for the College Entrance Exam.

Every year, the tuition for the Beast Class was tens of thousands, not including various additional fees.

Students from ordinary families naturally needed to train hard to succeed in life and live up to their family's expectations.

Meanwhile, those from prominent families would train even harder to ensure their family's prosperity and naturally inherit the family assets.

Chen Shu rode a shared bike, leisurely returning home.

He quickly ate a few bites of food and eagerly began training his Beast Power.

The training method was well-known to everyone, but whether one had the talent depended on the individual.

"This kid..." Chen Shu's mother shook her head, not expecting her son to be so enthusiastic.

Chen Shu sat in his bedroom, clearing his mind, trying to sense the Spiritual Power in the world.

Two hours passed, he remained seated, muttering continuously.

"Spiritual Power, come quickly, Spiritual Power, come quickly..."

Eventually, he gave up, completely lying down.

"This training is too difficult."

Chen Shu sighed, no wonder high-level Beast Masters had such high social status.

Not everyone could endure the patience required for training.

"Without a talent for training, I can only rely on the system."

A few simple choices had already made him a Level 1 Beast Master, equivalent to half a year of hard training for others.

Having tasted the benefits, he no longer had the patience for training.

"Mom, I'm going out for a bit."

"For what?"

"To do some multiple-choice questions."

"???"

Chen Shu ignored his mother's confusion and eagerly left the house.

"If I use the Beast Master Basic Elixir during training, my speed will increase significantly. I might as well check it out and try my luck."

Chen Shu rode his bike towards the city center.

The center of Nanjiang City was brightly lit at night, bustling with people, no different from the world in Chen Shu's memory.

Although it was just a small city, it still appeared incredibly prosperous.

"Beast Emporium."

Chen Shu entered a department mall, where various Beast Master Items were sold.

Low-Grade Ice Elixir: Slightly enhances the ice attribute of Contracted Spirits, effective only on Level 1 to 3 Contracted Spirits. Price: Five thousand!

Low-Grade Flame Elixir: ...

Low-Grade Strength Elixir: ...

"Hello sir, may I help you with something?" a salesperson approached.

Even though Chen Shu was just a Level 1 Beast Master, he had great potential.

Just as Chen Shu was about to speak, three options appeared before him again.

[Option 1: Tell the salesperson you have no money and are just here to look around. Reward: Slime Weight +1%]

[Option 2: Say boldly, "I want them all!" Reward: Two bottles of Low-Grade Strength Elixir. Note: Some risk involved!]

[Option 3: Tell the salesperson you want to learn potion brewing and ask where to start. Reward: Slime Defense +1%]

Chen Shu didn't expect that even buying something could trigger options.

Ordinary people would obviously choose the first option, as it posed no risk.

If option two didn't have a risk note, he would have chosen it directly.

After all, two bottles of Strength Elixir were worth ten thousand.

In the end, Chen Shu opted for the third option.
