Chapter 8 – Rule Modification: Zombies Don't Bite Humans?

"Don't make a sound!"

Huang Tang whispered, pulling the three of them behind an abandoned bus.

Jiang Jing'an covered her mouth, her eyes wide open.

Su Qing's face was pale, gripping Huang Tang's clothes tightly.

Even Cai Lin held her breath, her fingers trembling slightly.

A few zombies walked past the bus, less than five meters away from them.

The stench of decay assaulted their nostrils.

The four of them didn't move a muscle.

When the zombies finally moved away, Huang Tang breathed a sigh of relief.

"There... there are so many..." Su Qing's voice trembled, "How are we going to get in?"

Huang Tang was about to speak when footsteps suddenly sounded behind them.

"Hey, more players?"

A rough voice rang out.

Huang Tang turned around to see six people emerging from another alley.

Five men and one woman.

Leading them was a tattooed man, shirtless, with a dragon tattoo on his chest, holding a steel pipe.

Behind him were four men who looked like his lackeys, and the last was a young woman with dyed yellow hair, dressed provocatively, clinging to one of the men's arms.

The tattooed man sized up Huang Tang and the three women, his gaze lingering on Cai Lin, Jiang Jing'an, and Su Qing for a long time before he grinned.

"Brother, you're quite lucky, bringing three beauties."

Huang Tang didn't respond, just looked at him.

The tattooed man stepped forward, extending his hand, "I'm Long Ge. How about we team up? There are lots of zombies here, strength in numbers."

Cai Lin frowned slightly and whispered to Huang Tang, "Don't agree. Strangers can't be trusted."

Huang Tang didn't move.

He was calculating quickly.

The other side had six people, while they had four.

If a conflict broke out, taking them down wouldn't be hard, but if it attracted zombies, they'd be in trouble!

"Alright," he smiled, shaking the tattooed man's hand, "let's team up."

Cai Lin was stunned.

Jiang Jing'an also gave Huang Tang a surprised look but said nothing.

"Refreshing!" The tattooed man laughed heartily, patting Huang Tang on the shoulder, "Let's go. There's a mall up ahead, bound to have supplies."

There was indeed a mall at the end of the street, but the problem was, at least a dozen zombies were gathered at the entrance.

"How do we get past them?" Huang Tang asked.

The tattooed man looked at the zombies, then at Huang Tang and the others, giving a meaningful smile.

"Brother, you go first. We'll cover the rear."

Cai Lin's face changed.

They were being used as bait!

"Why should we go first?" she said coldly.

The men behind the tattooed man surrounded them, tapping steel pipes against their palms.

"Why?" The tattooed man laughed, "Because we outnumber you. What, you don't want to?"

Cai Lin was shaking with anger, about to retort, but Huang Tang stopped her.

"Fine, we'll go first," he said.

"Huang Tang!" Cai Lin was anxious.

"It's okay," Huang Tang winked at her, "I'm here."

He quietly opened the system panel and found the [Author's Note!] card.

[Use the card "Author's Note!"?]

[Yes]

[Please enter the rule you want to modify:__________________]

Huang Tang glanced at the three women beside him, then at the zombies in the distance, quickly typing.

[Rule: Female players with a height of 165-175cm and measurements matching the following data will not be targeted by zombies: Bust 88-92cm, Waist 58-62cm, Hips 88-92cm...]

[Height, facial features, weight, facial characteristics, fingerprints... drop-dead handsome... male players meeting the following data are immune to zombie attacks...]

He glanced at Cai Lin, Jiang Jing'an, and Su Qing. He had already estimated these measurements on the first day.

Perfect match.

As for himself, unless there was a clone!

[Rule activated, effective until leaving the current map.]

Huang Tang smiled.

"Let's go."

He stepped out from behind the cover.

"Wait..."

Cai Lin tried to hold him back, but Huang Tang was already walking towards the zombies.

The three women had no choice but to follow, bracing themselves.

Ten meters.

Five meters.

Three meters.

The zombies turned their heads, their hollow eyes looking at them.

Cai Lin held her breath.

Then...

The zombies turned their heads back, continuing to wander aimlessly.

As if they were just air.

Cai Lin: "???"

Su Qing: "This..."

Jiang Jing'an: "Huang Tang, what did you do?"

Huang Tang didn't look back: "Don't ask, just follow me."

The four of them casually walked through the group of zombies and entered the mall.

The tattooed man watched in disbelief from behind.

"Damn?" He rubbed his eyes, "These zombies... don't attack people?"

His lackey was also dumbfounded: "Long Ge, it seems... it seems they really don't attack?"

"Then what are we waiting for?" The tattooed man was overjoyed, "Let's go! Follow them!"

The six of them excitedly rushed out from behind cover, heading straight for the mall.

Then...

The zombies all turned their heads.

Their hollow eyes suddenly glowed red.

"Roar—!!!"

A dozen zombies lunged at them simultaneously.

"What's happening?!"

The tattooed man swung his steel pipe in terror, knocking away one zombie, but more pounced on him.

"They're attacking us! Why?!"

"Long Ge, help!"

Screams, roars, and chewing sounds blended into one.

In less than a minute, all six were lying in a pool of blood.

The last scene was the tattooed man's hand reaching for the mall, only to be bitten off by a zombie.

At the mall entrance, Huang Tang glanced back, then looked away.

"They... they're dead?" Su Qing's voice trembled.

"Yes."

"Why didn't the zombies attack us, but attacked them?"

Huang Tang smiled, pointing at the three women: "Because I set a rule for the zombies to only attack those who don't match your measurements."

"Measurements?" Cai Lin was taken aback, then blushed, "How... how do you know our measurements?!"

Su Qing also realized, her face turning red to her ears: "When... when did you..."

Jiang Jing'an wasn't embarrassed at all, instead hugging Huang Tang's arm and giggling: "Huang Tang, did you measure us while we were sleeping last night? How is it, is my figure the best?"

Huang Tang coughed: "Well... I have a good eye, I estimated."

"Estimated?" Cai Lin gritted her teeth, "How long did you look?"

"Not long... just... a few glances..."

"A few glances?"

"Okay, a lot of glances."

Cai Lin was too angry to speak.

Jiang Jing'an laughed even more, pressing her face against his arm: "Huang Tang, you've seen everything, you have to take responsibility."

Huang Tang looked down at her, nodding seriously: "Don't worry, I'll be responsible for each of you."

He said it naturally, as if it was a matter of course.

Because, barring any surprises, these female colleagues of his would eventually become his women.

Cai Lin was stunned.

Su Qing was also stunned.

Jiang Jing'an's eyes curved into crescents.

The mall was quiet, only the sound of their footsteps.

The basement level was a supermarket.

Shelves were toppled over, goods scattered everywhere.

Clearly, during the zombie outbreak, there had been a frenzy of "zero-cost purchases."

"See if there's anything useful," Huang Tang said.
