Chapter 7 – The Regeneration Serum

Crack—

The villa door opened.

The first thing that caught his eye was a figure in white.

As Luo Mang's gaze moved upward, a gentle and focused face appeared.

The silver-framed glasses added a touch of refinement.

Seeing Luo Mang, Connors turned slightly, hiding his stump behind him.

This subconscious action inadvertently exposed what he cared about most.

"Who are you? I don't recall meeting you."

Connors looked down at Luo Mang, a thoughtful expression flashing in his eyes.

"My name is Luo Mang, Dr. Connors. I've come for the Regeneration Serum."

Luo Mang made no attempt to hide his intentions, speaking directly and openly.

"That's quite unfortunate. I'm afraid I can't help you. I've already been fired from Osborn Industries."

Seeing Luo Mang's legs, a look of understanding flashed in Connors' eyes, but he quickly shook his head, indicating his helplessness.

Yet perhaps due to a shared sense of loss over their physical conditions, Connors hesitated before closing the door, looking back at Luo Mang.

"I don't know how you learned about the serum, but if you need it, you might try your luck with Osborn. They're currently conducting human trials on the Regeneration Serum."

At this moment, Dr. Connors had lost all hope, his face full of despair, and the smell of alcohol lingered around him.

A hint of self-mockery flashed in Connors' eyes. Luo Mang might have ulterior motives, but at this point, Connors had nothing left to lose.

Just as Connors was about to close the door again, a hand suddenly stopped him.

Pushing the door open, a harmless smile appeared.

"Dr. Connors, I can fund the completion of the remaining Regeneration Serum research. The condition is that I become the first recipient of the finished product."

As always, Luo Mang was straightforward. He wasn't interested in beating around the bush with Connors.

To Luo Mang, wealth was merely a byproduct of acquiring knowledge. The fortune he had accumulated over the years, though not comparable to industrial giants like Tony, was more than enough to support Connors in completing the final improvements to the serum.

Besides, wasn't he here?

The NTZ-48 was successfully developed with Luo Mang as the main subject.

Fields that seemed unfamiliar to others could be mastered by Luo Mang within a week, even reaching depths that others might not achieve in a lifetime.

What Connors saw as problems were not problems in Luo Mang's eyes. He needed Connors only to keep things under control.

What?!

Hearing Luo Mang's words, Connors' pupils contracted, and he instinctively looked at his stump, a flash of struggle passing through his eyes.

Luo Mang observed all of Connors' actions.

Who doesn't have weaknesses?

Only the dead!

Only the dead have no weaknesses, and as long as one is alive, there will be obsessions!

And as long as there are obsessions, they can be exploited!

What seemed complicated was actually quite simple.

Luo Mang could almost see the excitement and temptation in Connors' eyes.

Sure enough, the next second Connors looked at Luo Mang and spoke solemnly.

"As long as the Regeneration Serum can be completed, I'm willing to do anything!"

Connors had tried to maintain his original intentions but found that they meant nothing in the face of reality.

Just like Osborn Industries, in their eyes, he might not even be as good as an obedient dog!

A hint of malice flashed in Connors' eyes.

He secretly vowed that if he ever had the chance, he would give Osborn a grand gift!

It's only polite to reciprocate, isn't it?

"I was waiting for you to say that, Dr. Connors."

Luo Mang clapped his hands, the smile on his face widening.

"And you don't need to worry. I'm just like you, just someone who wants to live well."

Hearing Luo Mang's words, Connors instinctively glanced at Luo Mang's disabled legs and nodded heavily.

Connors then extended his only intact arm, shaking hands with Luo Mang, who was seated in a wheelchair.

At that moment, they both seemed to see the anticipation in each other's eyes.

......

Three months passed in the blink of an eye.

In a cold yet extremely clean and tidy basement.

A figure in a white lab coat paced back and forth in the laboratory.

Until a soft hum came from a container that seemed shrouded in white mist.

Connors' eyes instantly locked onto the container.

It happened almost instantly!

The container, with its white mist and frosted texture, suddenly changed.

The hard walls became transparent, and the state inside was immediately visible to Connors.

Connors squinted, as if confirming something.

When he saw the perfectly limbed white mouse inside the container, the excitement and exhilaration in his eyes almost overflowed.

"It's done, finally done. Of course, the complete Regeneration Serum still needs human trials, but according to my calculations, there should be no problem."

I think... no, no, no, the first user should be Luo. Without Luo, I could never have completed the serum."

Connors muttered to himself like a schizophrenic, unable to stop talking.

The conclusion he had just uttered was overturned by himself the next second.

Taking small steps around the lab, a smile crept onto Connors' face.

This expression appeared on Connors' face for the first time in two months.

Excitedly approaching the computer, recording the experimental results with the camera, he didn't notice Luo Mang, who had wheeled himself in.

"What day is it today? Our Dr. Connors actually lost his composure?"

Three months of change was insignificant compared to the past few decades, and the smile on Luo Mang's lips remained unchanged.

"Luo!"

Connors' face lit up with joy.

"The Regeneration Serum is complete!"

Connors quickly approached Luo Mang, pointing to the white mouse in the container.

"Next, we just need to find a volunteer..."

"Inject me directly."

Hearing Luo Mang's words, Connors' voice abruptly stopped.

Interrupted by Luo Mang, Connors didn't feel displeased; instead, he frowned slightly, looking at Luo Mang with concern.

"Luo, I know you're suffering, but the final experiment is crucial!"

Perhaps due to their shared plight, Connors understood Luo Mang well.

But with the rigorous attitude of a researcher, Connors was unwilling to let Luo Mang take risks.

"You promised me, didn't you? When the Regeneration Serum is confirmed effective, I will be the first to receive it. Come on, Connors, I am the first test subject!"

A rare madness appeared in Luo Mang's eyes, his words like the devil's temptation.

Seeing Connors' silence, Luo Mang pressed his hands firmly on the wheelchair, leaning forward, his eyes meeting Connors'.

"Let me clear the last obstacle for your rebirth!"
