Chapter 12 – Killing the Donkey After the Grind, Burning the Bridge After Crossing

As soon as the two sides met, the Great Elder immediately targeted Chu Qingyun.

Everyone's gaze instantly focused on Chu Qingyun.

Before Chu Qingyun could speak in his defense, Chu Qianshan furrowed his brows and coldly confronted the Great Elder, asking in a deep voice, "The Family Head hasn't arrived yet, and you're already convicting the younger generation, randomly placing blame? Who is overstepping their bounds and disrespecting the authority of the Family Head?"

"You old fool, stop trying to win with words!"

The Great Elder sneered disdainfully, "While you were in seclusion, the four elders and the Family Head discussed and made a decision. This matter is settled, and nothing you say now will change it!"

"You despicable scoundrel, taking advantage of my seclusion to attack my grandson. Today, I will seek justice for Qingyun!"

Chu Qianshan's anger was directed at the Great Elder, his fury surging, and his spiritual power raging within him.

Seeing him confront the Great Elder, the Fourth and Fifth Elders quietly stepped back two paces, not daring to speak.

The Third Elder stepped forward two paces, his face full of anger as he shouted coldly, "Chu Qianshan, this is the Council Hall, stop causing trouble here!"

"Who gave you the right to speak? Get lost!" Chu Qianshan's gaze was as sharp as a knife as he glanced at the Third Elder, his presence becoming even more fierce and domineering.

"Chu Qianshan, you're going too far!"

The Third Elder, filled with shame and anger, immediately activated his spiritual power and charged at Chu Qianshan, swinging his fist towards Chu Qianshan's chest and face.

Chu Qianshan showed no intention of dodging, looking at him with contempt as he raised his palm to meet the Third Elder's attack.

"Boom!"

The clash of fist and palm erupted with a dull sound, and dazzling spiritual light burst forth.

A powerful shockwave spread out from the two as the center, shattering most of the chairs in the hall.

Chu Qianshan didn't move an inch, completely unharmed.

The Third Elder, however, was sent flying over three meters away, landing awkwardly in the hall.

"You've successfully broken through to the Sky Soaring Realm?"

The Third Elder looked at Chu Qianshan in disbelief, filled with astonishment.

The Fourth and Fifth Elders were also shocked, their eyes filled with surprise.

Originally, among the five elders, only the Great Elder had reached the Sky Soaring Realm.

Now that Chu Qianshan had also broken through, he left the Third, Fourth, and Fifth Elders far behind.

The Great Elder narrowed his eyes, his tone icy as he shouted angrily, "Chu Qianshan, you dare to attack a clan member in front of me, completely disregarding my authority! As your elder brother, I must teach you a lesson and remind you of the family rules!"

With that, the Great Elder also activated his full power, his attack as swift as lightning as he punched towards Chu Qianshan.

His speed was so fast that he left afterimages behind him.

His fist, the size of a vinegar bowl, was wrapped in red flames, forming a massive flaming fist with an incredibly violent aura.

Chu Qianshan remained indifferent, showing no fear.

Facing the incoming massive flaming fist, he also unleashed a multicolored fist with all his might, clashing head-on with the Great Elder.

"Boom!"

Another loud explosion shook the entire Council Hall.

The violent shockwave caused the tables and chairs in the hall to topple over, and the vases and decorations shattered, leaving the place in disarray.

Chu Qianshan's feet seemed rooted to the ground, remaining unmoved.

The Great Elder, however, was pushed back seven steps, his face turning pale, his chest heaving violently.

This result left him staring in disbelief.

He was at the second level of the Sky Soaring Realm, yet Chu Qianshan, who had just broken through, could defeat him head-on!

How was this possible?

The Third, Fourth, and Fifth Elders were also stunned, their eyes wide with shock.

"Chu Qianshan is only at the first level of the Sky Soaring Realm, yet he can defeat the Great Elder?"

"Among us five elders, has the Second Elder become the strongest?"

"Before, the Great Elder could suppress him, but now only the Family Head can."

The Great Elder, regaining his composure, was filled with shame and anger, unwilling to accept it, and was about to attack Chu Qianshan again.

But just then, a commanding voice came from the entrance of the hall.

"Stop!"

Everyone instinctively turned to look at the entrance and saw a middle-aged man in a cloud-patterned purple robe and a purple jade gold crown stepping into the hall.

This man, in his early forties, had a dignified appearance and exuded an aura of authority.

He was the current Family Head of the Chu Family, Chu Wenyuan.

At the same time, he was at the fifth level of the Sky Soaring Realm, the Chu Family's most powerful figure on the surface.

"If I had arrived a moment later, would you have torn down the entire hall?"

Chu Wenyuan glanced at the Great Elder and Chu Qianshan, his face dark as he asked.

The Great Elder and Chu Qianshan didn't respond, only bowing their heads and cupping their fists in salute.

The three elders, along with Chu Qingyun and Chu Qingzhi, also bowed to Chu Wenyuan.

"Greetings, Family Head."

Chu Wenyuan ascended to the main seat without looking sideways, sitting on the throne, and with a flick of his wide robe sleeve, he asked in a deep voice, "Second Elder, why have you summoned everyone here?"

Seeing that he was feigning ignorance, Chu Qianshan didn't beat around the bush and said directly, "I implore the Family Head to rescind the order and allow Qingyun and Qingzhi to return to the Chu Residence!"

Chu Wenyuan frowned, remaining silent, his expression unreadable.

The Great Elder immediately retorted, "Chu Qianshan, do you think the Family Head's orders are child's play? The Family Head's orders are based on family rules and agreed upon by the four elders. How can they be changed on a whim?"

Chu Qianshan, expressionless, questioned, "Based on family rules? Then tell me, which rule did you use to strip Qingyun of his position as Young Master? And which rule did you use to expel him and Qingzhi from the Chu Family?"

The Great Elder sneered, "Chu Qingyun was severely injured and became a cripple, unfit to be the Young Master of the Chu Family, so he had to be stripped of his title! He became a cripple, and Qingzhi couldn't cultivate either. They would only waste the Chu Family's resources, so they had to be expelled. The Chu Family doesn't support useless people!"

"What a fine way to not support useless people, you're just using and discarding them!" Chu Qianshan angrily rebuked.

The Great Elder replied indifferently, "Chu Qianshan, I know you're unwilling and still harbor fantasies. But the matter is settled, and the Family Head has issued the order to appoint Changfeng as the Young Master, with a ceremony to be held in seven days. This decision was unanimously agreed upon by the four elders and twelve deacons!"

Chu Qianshan furrowed his brows deeply, looking up at Chu Wenyuan on the main seat, asking in a low voice, "Is the Family Head really in such a hurry?"

Chu Wenyuan replied expressionlessly, "The Young Master is a role model and leader for the younger disciples, and it cannot remain vacant for long. I also regret that Chu Qingyun has become a cripple. But the future of the Chu Family cannot be entrusted to someone with no martial prospects. Changfeng's character, talent, and comprehension are all excellent, making him the best choice for Young Master. This matter is not up for further discussion."

Chu Wenyuan's demeanor and temperament were nothing but stern and reserved, rarely speaking.

These last eight words indicated that his decision was final, effectively ending any hope for Chu Qingyun to reclaim the position of Young Master.

The Great Elder and the Third Elder both breathed a sigh of relief, their lips curling into a smug smile.

Chu Qianshan felt a deep sense of frustration, his eyes filled with disappointment.

After a moment of silence, he suppressed his anger, thinking to himself, "Given Qingyun's current condition, it's better not to have the position of Young Master. As long as he can stay in the Chu Family, ensuring safety and access to cultivation resources, he can gradually recover his strength. Once he returns to the Spirit Sea Realm, he can easily surpass his peers, and then we can plan slowly..."

Having made up his mind, Chu Qianshan spoke to Chu Wenyuan again, "Since the Family Head has made his decision, the position of Young Master can be given to Chu Changfeng. But Qingyun has shed blood and made great contributions for the Chu Family. The two mineral veins in Mirror Mountain, the hundred acres of herb fields in Huangfeng Valley, and the two beast gardens in Nanshan were all established by him. No matter what, the Chu Family shouldn't expel someone who has contributed so much. This action would dishearten countless clan members and make outsiders see the Chu Family as cold and ruthless..."

Before Chu Qianshan could finish, the Great Elder impatiently countered, "Did Chu Qingyun seize those mineral veins, herb fields, and beast gardens on his own? Wasn't it the Chu Family disciples who worked together and fought bravely to achieve it? Even if he led the planning and fought valiantly, indeed making great contributions, how has the Chu Family mistreated him? The status, position, and treatment he enjoyed were almost equivalent to us elders. Yet, despite the resources and effort the family invested in him, he acted recklessly, going to Tianjue Valley on his own, resulting in severe injury and becoming a cripple. This is a waste of the family's resources and efforts, which is a grave offense! Expelling him from the family also serves as a warning to the clan members to prioritize the family's interests..."

The Great Elder spoke with conviction, presenting his prepared arguments in a lengthy discourse.

The Third Elder also added fuel to the fire, blaming Chu Qingyun for disregarding the bigger picture and causing significant losses to the Chu Family.

Chu Qianshan glared at them with eyes like daggers, and the Third Elder, intimidated by his presence, quickly fell silent.

Even the Great Elder dared not meet his gaze, feeling a deep-seated fear of him.

Seeing the Great Elder and the Third Elder finally quiet down, Chu Qianshan turned to Chu Wenyuan on the main seat.

"Family Head, I have only one request! Please, for the sake of my lifelong dedication and sacrifices for the Chu Family, allow Qingyun and Qingzhi to return to the Chu Family, with all the treatment accorded to direct descendants."

Chu Wenyuan raised an eyebrow, a hint of displeasure flashing in his eyes.

But Chu Qianshan did not back down, meeting his gaze with determination, his attitude resolute.

After a moment of silence, Chu Wenyuan asked, "Second Elder, if I do not agree, what will you do?"

Chu Qianshan narrowed his eyes, questioning coldly, "The Chu Family has a three-hundred-year legacy, with deep foundations and immense wealth. Such a vast estate can support a thousand guards, eight hundred disciples, and tens of thousands of tenants and laborers. Can it not support two direct descendants? Even without considering the wealth Qingyun created for the Chu Family, does my contribution to the family not hold enough value for this?"

Throughout his life, Chu Qianshan had been dedicated to the Chu Family, without any ulterior motives.

The merits he achieved and the value he created for the Chu Family were immeasurable.

Yet, he never sought credit or boasted about his achievements.

Now, his words moved even the Fourth and Fifth Elders.

In their view, if the Family Head did not agree, it would be truly unreasonable.

If the news spread, the entire Lingjiang City would mock the Chu Family for being cold and heartless.
