Chapter 5 – Miner's Gear

Since Aunt Wang had already offered a discount, Su Wangchuan naturally took out the money, counted out two copper coins, and expressed his support on the spot.

Aunt Wang accepted with a smile, turned around, and fetched a large basket from inside the house, handing it to him along with two copper coins in change.

Remembering Lin Dahai's advice, Su Wangchuan carefully inspected the basket, finding it to be very sturdy, woven from bamboo strips.

Basket: Durability (100/100)

Can hold heavy items.

Aunt Wang then pulled out a small floral cloth pouch from her pocket, smiling as she said, "Wangchuan, this is for you. Use it to hold your money, so you don't lose it."

"Thank you, Aunt."

Su Wangchuan quickly expressed his gratitude; he really needed something like this.

"No need to thank me, it's just a little thing sewn from scraps, not worth much."

Aunt Wang smiled kindly and turned back to feeding the chickens.

Su Wangchuan put all his copper coins and copper coins into the pouch, tightened it, and tucked it into his chest, feeling much more at ease.

With the basket in hand, Su Wangchuan bid farewell to Aunt Wang and followed the sound to Blacksmith Sun's place.

Blacksmith Sun was at the door, hammering away at an iron pickaxe with a clanging sound, sparks flying everywhere. He was very focused, and inside the house were many finished iron pickaxes and other items, spears, and broadswords, all displayed on the walls.

"Uncle, my name is Wangchuan. I just arrived in the village, and I'd like to buy an iron pickaxe."

With his previous experience, Su Wangchuan also took out his wooden token, introducing himself.

"One hundred and thirty copper coins."

Blacksmith Sun glanced at him and quoted directly.

Su Wangchuan was slightly disappointed.

No discount.

He had hoped to save a bit more money.

"Uncle, can you make it a bit cheaper?"

Unwilling to give up, Su Wangchuan clutched the floral cloth money pouch.

Blacksmith Sun initially intended to refuse, but seeing the young man take out the pouch, he gave him another look, rubbed his nose, and said, "I can give you a discount of 5 copper coins at most, no less."

"Thank you, Uncle! I'll take it!"

Su Wangchuan's eyes lit up, and he immediately counted out the copper coins and handed them over.

The money pouch immediately felt much lighter, leaving only one copper coin and two copper coins.

He selected a brand-new iron pickaxe from the blacksmith shop, heavy and solid.

Iron Pickaxe: (Durability 100/100);

Attack 1-1;

Can be used for mining.

Ah, this was his first piece of equipment with attributes since entering the game.

In a good mood, Su Wangchuan placed the iron pickaxe into the basket, the real and tangible pull on his back making him feel that this game was not simple.

Having acquired the iron pickaxe, he didn't rush to leave but instead looked around the blacksmith shop, checking out the other equipment Blacksmith Sun had forged.

Crude Spear: (Durability 100/100);

Attack 2-3;

Unranked Equipment;

Crude Broadsword: (Durability 100/100);

Attack 2-3;

Unranked Equipment;

Crude Wooden Shield: (Durability 100/100);

Defense 1-2;

Unranked Equipment.

In the back, there were also some blunted swords and knives...

Su Wangchuan asked casually, "Uncle, how much are these weapons?"

"Knives, fifteen hundred copper coins each; spears, fourteen hundred copper coins; shields are cheaper, five hundred copper coins." Blacksmith Sun said, "It's necessary to buy something for self-defense when you're out and about, after all, the mines aren't safe."

Su Wangchuan was taken aback.

The mines aren't safe?

Are there monsters?

Su Wangchuan wasn't too worried. Since the company had been mining there for some time, they should have enough experience to ensure safety.

Besides, there were several companions like Lin Dahai.

"Alright, I'll come back to support your business once I've earned some money." Su Wangchuan tightened his grip on the basket and was about to leave.

Blacksmith Sun gave him a meaningful look and called out from behind:

"Wait."

Su Wangchuan stopped, looking puzzled:

"What is it?"

"Want to earn some extra money?"

"Hmm?"

Su Wangchuan was stunned.

Blacksmith Sun put down the hammer, looked him up and down, and said:

"I see you have strong arms and a steady stance. Would you like to be my apprentice? Learn some blacksmithing?"

"Blacksmithing?"

Su Wangchuan hesitated.

"You mine during the day, and after delivering the goods, if you're not afraid of the trouble, bring back some iron ore. I can teach you blacksmithing, and you can earn wages for the iron tools you make."

Blacksmith Sun seemed well aware of the mining situation outside and explained proactively, "It might be a bit tougher than those guys, but if you can endure it, saving up for a house and a wife in the future isn't a bad path. Think about it."

He wasn't in a hurry for Su Wangchuan to make a decision.

Su Wangchuan nodded, indicating he would consider it, and then turned to leave.

Blacksmith Sun's invitation left him a bit hesitant.

He wasn't sure if Blacksmith Sun's offer would trigger a main quest, affect the company's mining task, or conflict with his schedule.

He decided to wait until he was on track before considering it.

After all, the monthly salary of over ten thousand was the main goal.

As he walked out of the blacksmith shop and reached the village entrance, he could smell the aroma of scallions from afar.

A pancake shop!

The village entrance flag fluttered in the wind.

Wang Dalang, a short man in his thirties, stood there with a dirty apron, in front of two large baskets covered with fragrant scallion pancakes.

Two villagers were counting copper coins:

"Five copper coins for two pancakes."

"Give me two."

"Give me four, so I don't go hungry tonight." The other one's words made Su Wangchuan take a second look.

Coming up at night?

Is this guy a player?

The two were very sensitive to his gaze and immediately looked over.

"Newcomer?"

"Another one..."

The new-looking basket and pickaxe made it obvious to anyone with eyes.

"Heh."

"Let's go, let's go."

The two bought their pancakes and left, looking unfriendly.

Su Wangchuan didn't think much of it.

Wang Dalang greeted him with a smile:

"Newcomer, I saw you earlier... Didn't expect you'd get a basket so soon. Here, fresh pancakes, still warm, give you strength. Want one?"

"I have 12 Copper Coins..."

Su Wangchuan poured out all his money.

Wang Dalang was easygoing:

"Alright, I'll give you five."

He quickly wrapped five pancakes in lotus leaves for him.

Pancake: Edible, can fill your stomach.

(Tastes good.)

"Thanks."

"Come back if you like it."

Wang Dalang was also pleased to make a big sale.

"Sure thing."

In high spirits, Su Wangchuan bid farewell to Wang Dalang. Lin Dahai appeared out of nowhere again, looking surprised at the five thick pancakes in his hand:

"I remember giving you only 155 copper coins."

"Did you find money?"

Lin Dahai was very surprised.

"Hehe, Brother Lin, have some."

Su Wangchuan handed two pancakes to Lin Dahai while recounting his bargaining experience in detail, including Blacksmith Sun's offer to make him an apprentice.

Lin Dahai, holding the pancakes, was stunned:

"I've heard some people have good luck and can trigger storylines, but none of our company's five people have encountered it. Wangchuan, your luck is really good."

Looking at the pancakes in his hand, he found Wangchuan increasingly agreeable, so he said, "Blacksmith Sun's apprentice quest is a way to make money, and it's in the village, not a dangerous task, so the higher-ups won't mind."
