Chapter 7 – Isn't it just a middleman?

Lu Chen couldn't find similar equipment on the official website, leaving him a bit puzzled about how to price it.

After thinking for a moment, Lu Chen decided to post on the forum for some advice.

To avoid causing a big stir, Lu Chen chose to post in the Jiangcheng Sub-Forum.

[Just wondering, if there's a club with 4-7 attack, +2 strength, and +2 physique, how much could it sell for?]

The official website was bustling with players, most of whom were probably stuck in the Starter Village.

The sudden appearance of the post on the forum quickly attracted a crowd of onlookers.

"Wake up, OP! Stop dreaming! There hasn't been an epic club in the Global Server!"

"Is it interesting to discuss such meaningless questions? If you have it, I'll buy it for ten thousand, but can you even get it?"

"OP must be really bored. If you had this weapon, would you sell it? I bet a dime you don't even have a Normal Club, let alone an epic one..."

Lu Chen didn't know whose nerves he had touched, but the comments below were full of sarcasm.

It was understandable; when people didn't even have a Normal Club, his question might seem pointless.

Fortunately, the internet is full of all kinds of people, and amidst the trolls, there were a few valuable replies.

"Let me answer. If the OP can really get such an epic today, given the current market, someone would pay 2000 for it. At least our company would consider it."

"You're bluffing, right? Level 1 equipment selling for 2000? Aren't you the guy who marked a Normal Club for 2000?"

"Bro, no need to argue with me. I'm not bluffing, nor am I showing off. I'm with a club myself. You've seen the hype around Nine Heavens; the game has exploded! Many professional teams have joined, and for us, the competition starts the second we enter the game. The level advantage is the biggest advantage right now. The attributes of this weapon make it a beginner's artifact. 2000 isn't expensive, and it could go for even more if a wealthy player is interested."

"I think it's simple. Just throw it in the Auction Zone, set the starting price at 1000, and let people bid."

Lu Chen carefully read the comments and pondered.

Having been online for so long, Lu Chen had developed the ability to extract valuable information from a pile of useless data.

The pro player's comment seemed to have some reference value, and the suggestion given later was also quite good.

"Yes, put it in the Auction Zone! Let them bid for it!" Once Lu Chen made up his mind, he opened the Trading Zone.

After placing the club up for auction, he filled in "1000" for the starting price and "1800" for the buyout price.

The buyout price wasn't set too high because Lu Chen was worried that potential buyers might hesitate too long, and someone else might find an epic item, making the price uncertain. Selling quickly was the safest bet.

After clicking "List for Auction," Lu Chen returned to the game.

"As long as it sells within half an hour." Lu Chen took a deep breath. This amount of money wasn't small for him; he had never bought anything this expensive in a game before.

If he could sell it, he'd make over 3000 today, which was exciting to think about for a month.

"Stay calm, stay calm, no need to focus on it. A special monster just spawned, let's go hunt it!"

As Lu Chen placed the Epic Club in the Auction Zone, many people who constantly refreshed the Trading Zone saw the weapon at the same time.

"Leader, someone is selling a club in the Auction Zone, starting at 1000, 1800 for buyout."

"Boss, someone put a club in the Auction Zone, but the price is outrageous, starting at a thousand."

"Another idiot, level 1 equipment can't sell for 1000, rich people have money but they're not fools."

28th floor of the Twin Towers in the Imperial City, ESD Club headquarters.

Assistant Shanshan was doing the same thing as many assistants, endlessly refreshing the Trading Zone.

"Hmm? Xiaoyao, someone's auctioning a club, starting at 1000."

Their leader was leading the core team in leveling up, but even as a professional team, they were stuck in the awkward situation of not being able to find monsters.

"Damn, too many people... Shanshan, what did you say?" Xiaoyao communicated with the assistant through the headset.

"Someone's auctioning a club, starting at 1000, 1800 for buyout. Hmm? It's being auctioned by Lone Madman."

Shanshan remembered this ID because it had previously released five clubs at once, which was unbelievable.

Unfortunately, she didn't manage to grab any, but she remembered this mysterious ID.

"Only a fool would buy at that price. Who is Lone Madman? Do you know him?" Xiaoyao asked curiously.

"No, it's just that he released five clubs before, so I remembered his ID."

Xiaoyao frowned, "It's him? That's odd, his previous pricing was normal, why the sudden change..."

Many people would probably skip over this starting price, could it really sell? Or was it just trying to fleece someone?

As an experienced gamer, Xiaoyao had encountered all kinds of people, and this wasn't impossible.

"Ignore it, all clubs have the same attributes, he's just looking for a sucker. It's not worth buying at that price."

But Shanshan was a responsible assistant!

She entered the Auction Zone, "Check auction equipment stats."

[Worn Gnoll Club (Gray Epic)]

["The surface is somewhat worn, it looks like it's been used for a long time"]

[Attack: 4-7]

[Strength +2 Physique +2]

Seeing this information, Shanshan was a bit stunned.

"Xiaoyao... you, you better check out that equipment... it seems to be... epic!"

"Epic? Impossible, there hasn't been an epic globally!" Xiaoyao said, but still opened the Trading Zone.

Upon seeing it, Xiaoyao was stunned.

"4-7 attack?! And it adds strength and physique! Damn! This, this... it's really epic, how is that possible!"

After a second of shock, Xiaoyao quickly reacted.

The starting price was 1000, and 1800 for an instant buyout.

The manager said clubs under 300 could be bought, but this club was clearly different.

Anyone who saw the equipment stats would know this price was a steal!

Every second that passed increased the risk of someone else buying it!

"Shanshan, quick, buy it now!" Xiaoyao's voice trembled slightly.

"Leader, should we discuss with the manager..."

"Don't worry, I'll take responsibility if anything happens, buy it now, immediately!" Xiaoyao sat there, his nerves taut.

This equipment was too significant!

Shanshan had never seen Xiaoyao so excited before, and quickly chose to buy it instantly.

[Congratulations, you successfully bought the "Worn Gnoll Club"]

"Leader, we got it!"

Xiaoyao let out a sigh of relief, took off his headset, and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

"Finally got it... Shanshan, go inform Old Xu."

Not long after, Old Xu hurried out of the Manager's Office, gathering with Xiaoyao and several leaders behind Shanshan's computer.

Shanshan retrieved the mail, and a weapon appeared on the display page.

A thick wooden club, haphazardly wrapped with some metal, with the equipment stats displayed below.

"Tsk tsk tsk, these stats, definitely a beginner's artifact!"

"Too powerful, attack, defense, health, all greatly enhanced, it can even take on level 2 gnolls!"

Old Xu patted a young man with short hair on the shoulder, "Xiaoyao, well done, it was worth buying! Good thing you didn't hesitate, if someone else got it, we'd have suffered a big loss."

"Shanshan, immediately send this equipment to Xiaoyao's account. Xiaoyao, you lead the second to fifth team leaders to level up quickly, whether we can break out of the Starter Village depends on you."

"Don't worry, Old Xu, with this artifact, we can dominate the Starter Village! Everyone, log in immediately, let's start leveling up!"

Everyone quickly returned to their seats and logged into the game.

As Old Xu was about to leave, Shanshan suddenly asked, "Manager, should I send an email to Lone Madman? He seems to have a lot of equipment, should we keep in touch?"

Old Xu smiled slightly, confidence gleaming in his eyes, "No need, just a middleman, he's already sold his best stuff, nothing more to gain!"

Shanshan was instantly impressed by Old Xu's wisdom, quickly guessing Lone Madman's identity.

Yes, he must be a middleman, otherwise how could he have so much equipment?
