Chapter 10 – End of the First Round: Survival Decisions

As soon as these words were spoken, the entire place fell silent.

The slap in the face came too quickly, and Luo Jiu opened his mouth, not knowing what to say.

Even if he was shameless, he knew that speaking up now would only invite ridicule and mockery.

Didn't he ask for five thousand?

Here's five thousand, want to team up?

How could anyone dare to team up now!

It wasn't just Luo Jiu; every user with a brain understood: anyone who could gather thousands of Blood Coins within a few hours of the start must be formidable.

This Li Dali is a hidden powerhouse!

Luo Jiu remained silent, and Li Dali couldn't be bothered to dwell on it, continuing to post his search for his mother.

He was persistent, so persistent that no matter what others said, asked, or how shocked they were by his five thousand Blood Coins... Li Dali remained unmoved and did not respond.

In Li Dali's mind, there were only two things: finding his mother and finding a chance to deal with Luo Jiu.

Why deal with Luo Jiu?

He said my mother was dead!

"What kind of card does he have? How could he gather so many Blood Coins in just a few hours!"

Su Yan was amazed and silently marked Li Dali as a user to watch.

There were more hidden powerhouses in the Tianshutai Region than Su Yan had anticipated, and the first batch of users to jump out was definitely not the strongest.

Many others were silently racewalking, painstakingly scavenging Blood Coins to strengthen themselves.

Suddenly.

At this moment, Jing softly spoke beside him, "Master, she's back."

"Hmm?"

Su Yan looked up, following Jing's direction to the end of the street.

He saw a tall young blonde woman sprinting towards the direction of the team. She was exceptionally agile, leaping through the ruins, and in a few swift moves, she was in front of Su Yan.

It was Natasha, the only SR Card among the ten servants.

"Master."

Natasha's voice was clear, her eyes respectful as she looked at Su Yan, bowing her head in acknowledgment.

She wore a green short dress, a hunter's outfit, her waist cinched, the tight-fitting dress accentuating her shapely figure, creating a full curve, her long legs straight, exuding an extremely healthy and robust beauty.

A beautiful blonde with considerable combat power, this undoubtedly hit Su Yan's XP.

But more than appreciating beauty, Su Yan was concerned about the current situation.

"How's the road ahead?"

Su Yan inquired, and Natasha respectfully reported, "There are quite a few zombies ahead. I cleared some and moved forward to an intersection."

"Three sides of the intersection are blocked by tall buildings, with no new paths. The road we're on ends in a dead end."

"But after thorough reconnaissance, I discovered that there seemed to be powerful creatures inside each building. When I tried to approach, a large number of zombies inexplicably attacked me from the three tall buildings."

"There are at least two to three thousand of them, and their perception system is very strange, seemingly able to directly locate my position, rendering my hiding skills ineffective."

"I couldn't go further to scout, but I initially estimated that the terrifying presence inside the buildings wasn't coming from these zombies; there are other terrifying creatures."

......

Upon hearing this, Su Yan almost instantly judged, "There's a BOSS waiting for me ahead!"

Su Yan wasn't too surprised. Since the Death Racewalk had progress stages marked, it was expected that each stage's end would have more terrifying creatures.

Each racewalk was a [checkpoint], and those who survived would face even more terrifying racewalk challenges.

Endless, until they fell.

"Jing, what do you think?"

Su Yan looked at the librarian beside him, the girl adjusting her black-framed glasses, bowing her head in thought.

Natasha was the first to suggest, "Master, I suggest letting others go ahead first; we shouldn't be the first to approach the endpoint."

By others, she meant the other users in the Chat Channel.

All servants knew the related mechanisms within the Endless Road, and Natasha was no exception.

She believed that since the first round of Death Competition had a so-called "endpoint," they just needed to wait for others to approach it, and relevant intelligence would inevitably be disclosed.

Even if the first and second users to reach the endpoint chose to keep it private, as more people approached, intelligence would continuously emerge.

What Su Yan needed to do was not to be the first, nor the last.

Be moderate, stay in the middle layer, that's the safest.

"That's one way."

Su Yan pondered, and he was considering the same.

The Endless Road didn't announce any racewalk rankings or rewards; it was fair and forced every user to keep moving forward.

Since that was the case, those at the forefront were likely the unlucky ones, the more they rushed, the greater the risk.

At this moment, Jing suddenly spoke.

"What if the others don't have time to disclose intelligence?"

Everyone was taken aback and looked at her.

"Master is currently in Stage 1-1, so what are the means and directions to enter Stage 1-2?"

"I think it's probably by killing all the creatures at the end of this road."

"Whether it's the Progressive Respawn Mechanism or the stop warning, they're all forcing every user to keep approaching the stage endpoint."

Jing paused slightly, speaking softly, "If I were the mechanism, I wouldn't leave such an obvious loophole."

"I would let the strong who pass quickly leave and enter the next stage, even leaving the current Chat Channel."

"In this way, the hesitant 'smart ones' would never get the news, thinking that 'no one' successfully left the first stage."

"The longer they stay, the greater the survival pressure they face, and the zombie tide will become increasingly terrifying."

"They still have to face the terrifying monsters at the end without knowing anything."

Jing looked at Su Yan and voiced a more terrifying guess, "If the mechanism is more ruthless, there might be a 'Last-Place Elimination' mechanism."

"When the number of passers reaches a certain level, the rest who haven't passed will be collectively wiped out."

Upon hearing this, Su Yan felt a chill down his spine, "Are you sure?"

To be suddenly wiped out without any sign or knowledge?

That would be too horrifying!

Natasha raised an eyebrow, "You don't need to scare the Master; there's no evidence to prove what you're saying is true."

"No evidence is needed because any worst-case scenario aligns with the survival environment the Master is currently in."

Jing slowly shook her head, "The greatest pressure of survival is the possibility of death from unknown sources, so we must prepare for the worst."

Jing continued, "Besides, we've already learned one thing: the appearance of the Chat Channel is not the mechanism encouraging users to unite for survival; it merely provides a channel for the strong to vent, boast, and even oppress."

"In such a harsh communication environment, the Master cannot fully rely on the intelligence provided by it."

"After all, once someone lies in critical intelligence, the consequences of the spread are unbearable for anyone."

"So I suggest, if conditions permit, continue to move forward, approach the endpoint, and gather endpoint intelligence ourselves, without relying on others."

Jing adjusted her glasses frame, smiling slowly, "If conditions allow, we can also sell some intelligence before leaving here. After all, the transaction range between users is not restricted, and making money from intelligence is also a means to become stronger."

Su Yan was moved, silently calculating the possibilities and risks of this move.

"You're too confident."

Natasha shook her head, pointing out the core of the problem, "Exploring the endpoint in complete ignorance is extremely dangerous. I can't be sure of surviving the Endpoint Zombie Tide, let alone approaching the terrifying creatures that haven't appeared yet."

"Are you afraid of death?"

Jing looked at Natasha, smiling as she spoke, "Don't worry, you won't be the first to die; survival inevitably brings death, and the pressure of death cannot fall on the Master, we must share it."

"Using servants' bodies to pave the way, even if it only brings back a small amount of valuable intelligence, it's worth it."

Jing looked at Su Yan, smiling slightly, "After all, we're all very 'cheap.'"
