Chapter 12 – Four Ranks Ascended

Just as Tang Yan was in the midst of his struggles, the surge of spiritual energy did not clash as violently as he had imagined. Instead, it carried a gentle warmth, leading the way ahead of the previously fierce true Qi.

The spiritual energy emanating from the cauldron passed through, leaving a cool and soothing sensation, repairing the damaged meridians. The energy even circulated autonomously, completing a second cycle without needing guidance.

"Damn, that feels good!"

Before Tang Yan could catch his breath, the turbulent true Qi followed closely behind, tearing apart the newly healed meridians once again.

Tang Yan frowned deeply, almost crying out. He cursed the cauldron for its harm, while enduring the pain of his meridians being forcefully expanded and torn.

After another cycle, Tang Yan felt as if he had walked through a frying pan.

The torment of alternating between ice and fire made Tang Yan feel like he was on the brink of life and death. Fortunately, today's Tang Yan was no longer the same Tang family's notorious wastrel, but a dignified 9th Rank Alchemist, having endured countless hardships in his life. An ordinary person would have likely fainted from the pain long ago.

Round after round, his meridians cycled through injury and repair, and the once unbearable pain seemed less torturous. After an unknown amount of time, Tang Yan finally focused entirely, immersing his mind completely into his cultivation.

When Tang Yan opened his eyes again, sunlight was already streaming through the window.

A sharp glint flashed in his eyes, and feeling the meridians within him having grown several times stronger, Tang Yan's expression immediately brightened.

Origin Rank... 7th Grade!

In just one night, he advanced from the 3rd tier to the 7th tier, spanning four whole levels! If others knew about this, would they capture him as a monster?

In the entire Tingxiang Kingdom, such a genius seemed unheard of! Not to mention advancing four levels consecutively, even advancing twice in succession would be considered a prodigious feat!

Indeed, the world is unpredictable, and fortune often lies in misfortune. He had initially thought he would suffer a Qi deviation or even explode and die, but who knew he would not only be fine but also make such progress overnight.

After a brief moment of excitement, Tang Yan calmed down. The Tang Family was besieged on all sides in Yun City, and besides his grandfather and Uncle Mo, the middle generation was lacking, leaving his own situation quite dangerous. Even at the 7th Grade Origin Rank, his strength was still too weak!

Pushing open the door, Tang Yan walked outside.

The early autumn morning carried a hint of chill.

After walking for the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, he heard a series of grunts and shouts. Tang Yan's heart stirred, and he quickened his pace, arriving at a courtyard with a plaque above that read "Martial Arts Arena."

This was where the Tang Family's younger generation usually practiced their skills.

Pushing open the courtyard door and entering, he found that there were quite a few Tang Family martial artists, nearly a hundred people, either sparring or practicing their techniques in the arena.

The leading young man was someone Tang Yan recognized, Mo Yanjun, Uncle Mo's eldest grandson.

Mo Yanjun, at twenty-three, was already at the 2nd Tier Yellow Level, considered one of the stronger young talents in Yun City, and held the position of Guard Captain in the Tang Family.

Tang Yan's immaculate robe was quite eye-catching, and as soon as he entered the Martial Arts Arena, he immediately caught Mo Yanjun's attention.

What's this wastrel doing here? The last time this kid entered the Martial Arts Arena was four years ago, wasn't it?

Following Mo Yanjun's gaze, the others also noticed Tang Yan, their eyes filled with disdain. In this world where martial prowess was revered, although Tang Yan was the eldest young master of the Tang Family, his reputation as a wastrel had indeed tarnished the family's name. These martial artists, who admired strength, naturally did not regard Tang Yan highly.

Taking in everyone's expressions, Tang Yan smirked but didn't get angry. With his hands clasped behind his back, he leisurely walked around the Martial Arts Arena.

As if wanting to intimidate Tang Yan, those who were training suddenly increased their intensity, making the atmosphere even more intense.

After Tang Yan completed a lap, Mo Yanjun pretended to have just noticed the young master and hurriedly approached, "Young Master, you're here! I was busy and didn't notice."

"No worries, I'm just looking around," Tang Yan waved his hand, indicating it was fine.

"Young Master, how do you think our guards are doing with their training?" Mo Yanjun asked politely, and the others, hearing his question, all chuckled inwardly. What would this wastrel know?

Just as everyone was ready to hear Tang Yan's flattery, an exaggerated exclamation came, "What? You call that training?"

Mo Yanjun, who was also waiting for Tang Yan's praise, was taken aback by his words and snorted coldly, "What? Does the young master think we're playing games?"

"What, you're not playing games?" Tang Yan exclaimed again.

It can be hard to make great work when its stolen from "pawread.com".

The guards, who had been listening intently to the young master, now wore sour expressions upon hearing Tang Yan's words.

"Hmph, a wastrel is indeed a wastrel. Without these guards, how would our Tang Family intimidate the surrounding areas and remain one of Yun City's four great families? If the young master doesn't respect us, please refrain from entering the Martial Arts Arena in the future!" Mo Yanjun said unceremoniously.

"Get out of the Martial Arts Arena!"

"Get out of the Martial Arts Arena!"

"Get out of the Martial Arts Arena..."

The guards below roared in anger.

"Enough! You cowards!" Tang Yan shouted, and the aura of a former Alchemy Emperor suddenly erupted. Mo Yanjun was startled, and the entire arena fell silent at Tang Yan's outburst.

"Mo Yanjun, as the captain of the Martial Arts Arena, I walked in wearing a conspicuous white robe and circled around you, and only then did you notice me? Is this the vigilance expected of Tang Family guards? If someone with ill intentions came in and saw all our family secrets, what consequences would that bring?" Tang Yan pointed at Mo Yanjun and reprimanded.

Mo Yanjun was at a loss for words. The young master had a point. He had deliberately pretended not to see him earlier, but he hadn't expected the young master to catch him on it.

Tang Yan rummaged through his sleeve and pulled out a token, holding it high.

"Listen to my command, form up!"

A loud command came from Tang Yan, and the entire team was momentarily stunned. What was this kid trying to do? Mo Yanjun, being the closest, was the first to recognize the token. It was the core symbol of authority within the Tang Family!

This token could fully represent the Tang Family's orders. Who would have thought the Tang Old Master actually gave it to this kid?

"What are you standing around for? Form up!" Although Mo Yanjun looked down on Tang Yan as a wastrel, he was loyal to the Tang Family.

Hearing the captain's order, all the guards quickly formed ranks, standing tall and straight, though their eyes were filled with mockery as they looked at Tang Yan. What, did he think he could insult us just because he's the young master?

Tang Yan took a couple of steps forward, pointing at all the guards, "You're all cowards, bold only within your own ranks, daring only to act out against someone like me who has no cultivation. Why haven't I heard you shout for the Liu Family to get out of Yun City?"

"You're not just cowards; you're useless!"

Hearing Tang Yan's arrogant words, the guards' eyes turned red with anger, as if they were about to burst into flames. If it weren't for us guarding the Tang Family day and night, would you, this wastrel, be able to sleep peacefully every day?

"If one day, the four great families of Yun City go to war, everyone here will only be sent to their deaths!" Tang Yan's words grew sharper and sharper, until finally, someone couldn't hold back any longer and stepped forward.

"Young Master Tang, what gives you the right to call us useless?" A burly, dark-faced man stepped forward, meeting Tang Yan's gaze with defiance in his eyes.
