Su Ming, revered as a deity by the handlers, stood bewildered in the corridor of Hengan Middle School. He looked up at the ceiling, his brows furrowing unconsciously. There should have been a shadow lurking there, ready to pounce as he walked by. But now, only a large mass of sticky black substance remained on the ceiling.
This viscous material stretched into countless thin, sticky threads, slowly dripping to the ground, emitting a pungent stench. He took out a flashlight, carefully illuminating the ceiling and then the floor. The mass was unresponsive to the light, flowing silently like congealed asphalt. Occasionally, a bubble would form on its surface, only to burst with a pop, releasing an even stronger stench.
Scratching his head, he vaguely remembered being very angry at the time, confronting the shadow. What happened afterward was a blur. He only recalled waking up feeling utterly drained. After walking a bit further, Su Ming stopped again. Previously, this wall would extend numerous pale ghostly hands. Once caught, one would be dragged into the wall, losing consciousness instantly. But now, the wall seemed to have been ravaged by a famine-level gnawing. Its surface was riddled with holes of varying depths, as if a pack of frenzied beasts had clawed it open with their teeth and claws.
Upon closer inspection, the edges of several larger holes bore clear teeth marks. "Did I do this?" Su Ming scratched his head, having no recollection. He even, inexplicably, brought his head closer, comparing his teeth to the marks. Fuck. They matched perfectly. This was indeed his handiwork. Was he insane? Biting a wall? Su Ming instinctively touched his teeth, feeling a faint ache.
