Chapter 4 – Question: What Does It Feel Like to Be Disdained by a Ghost?

The next morning, Su Ming woke up feeling dizzy.

Dragging his heavy body to the bathroom, he saw his haggard face, dark circles under his eyes, and bloodshot whites.

He hadn't slept well the night before.

Perhaps it was because he had died too many times; he woke up startled several times throughout the night.

Coupled with a series of nightmares.

If he weren't young, he might have suddenly died.

In his dreams, he saw the Ghost School Belle holding a sharp knife, asking him, "Run, where do you think you can go?"

Besides the Ghost School Belle, he also dreamed of the Ghost Bride and the Cursed Doll he hadn't chosen.

The Ghost Bride asked why he didn't choose her while peeling off her skin and pulling out her tendons.

Then she ground her bones into needles and sewed a blood-red wedding dress with flesh and blood.

Finally, she put it on and asked him, "Does it look good?"

And the Cursed Doll.

The Cursed Doll hung him in mid-air, with numerous iron wires drilling out of his body.

Each bend of the wire bloomed with a bright flower.

He looked like Jesus nailed to the cross, watching flowers bloom all over his body.

And that delicate, cute Cursed Doll sat on his shoulder, saying in a wronged tone, "Don't you want me anymore?"

They all seemed to want to imprison him.

Their expressions and tones made him feel like a scumbag.

After washing his face with cold water, Su Ming felt a bit more awake.

"So tired."

"Today, I don't want to go to school, just want to deal with ghosts."

Rubbing his swollen temples, Su Ming sat at the dining table, eating breakfast.

He picked up the phone he had smashed yesterday and inserted the SIM card into his old phone.

He dialed his homeroom teacher's number.

"Teacher, I'm not feeling well today."

"Mm-hmm, planning to take a few days off."

"It's nothing, really, nothing. I'll go to the hospital myself."

"Okay, thank you, teacher."

His homeroom teacher was easy to talk to, and it was easy to get leave.

The only downside was that his homeroom teacher was too responsible.

But it was understandable, as she was a recent college graduate, leading a class for the first time, so she was very responsible.

She insisted on visiting Su Ming over the phone, but he managed to stop her.

Throwing away the phone, Su Ming turned to look at the world outside the window.

After yesterday's events, his perspective on the world had changed.

This world really has ghosts!

For example, the game "Raising Ghosts."

He opened his computer and searched online.

It was strange.

There was no information about the game "Raising Ghosts" online.

However, some other news caught Su Ming's attention.

Previously, Su Ming would have dismissed these as stories or rumors.

Science is the mainstream in this era.

But now, he had different thoughts.

There were many paranormal events online, and it was hard to tell if they were true or false.

Haunted houses, cursed lands, unnatural deaths—most were rumors, and it was hard to determine if there was any truth in them.

Some netizens even claimed to have seen handlers who specifically dealt with these anomaly incidents.

Others replied, saying it was the Anomaly Management Bureau, which specialized in handling these matters.

"Anomaly Management Bureau? You must have read too many novels."

"It's the 21st century, don't be superstitious. Believe in science; science is the truth. Feudal superstition is all rubbish."

"Hey, I don't agree with that. There's a saying that the end of science is theology."

There were quite a few people discussing it.

Everyone had their own point of view, making it hard to draw a conclusion.

Until one netizen said, "If you don't believe it, go to the Lychee Hotel. It's famous online; just check it out."

Su Ming looked at this reply and specifically searched online.

The Lychee Hotel was established seven years ago, and a major fire occurred in the second year, resulting in seven deaths and one injury. It was then sealed off and never rebuilt.

From what he found online, it was an ordinary hotel, although it had incidents, but many places did.

Out of curiosity, he privately messaged the netizen with the username "Mint Candy."

After waiting for over ten minutes, there was no reply.

It seemed the other person wasn't online.

"This Lychee Hotel seems to be not far from where I live."

Su Ming lived in Pingjiang City, and the Lychee Hotel was also in Pingjiang City.

However, he lived in the old district, and the Lychee Hotel was in the new district, about 20 kilometers away.

After browsing for a while, Su Ming tossed his phone aside.

Actually, what he wanted to search for was whether having a relationship with a ghost would cause illness.

He wasn't really curious about other information.

Speaking of the Ghost School Belle, Su Ming opened the game page.

The Ghost School Belle was still sitting upright in her seat, unchanged from yesterday, even her posture was the same.

"Did she sit like this all night?"

"Doesn't her butt hurt?"

Su Ming wasn't sure about the habits of ghosts.

But it didn't matter.

Increasing favorability was definitely necessary.

The higher, the better.

The previous hint said that favorability could be increased by giving gifts.

What to give?

Su Ming bought a bouquet of flowers, a plush toy, and a box of chocolates.

He didn't know what the Ghost School Belle liked.

He'd try giving them.

If it didn't work, he'd change it, until she was satisfied.

To bring real items into the game, he needed to use the inventory.

Clicking on [Interaction], Su Ming entered the classroom.

The Ghost School Belle had a slight reaction to Su Ming's appearance.

She glanced at him before returning to her original state.

Su Ming cheerfully walked up to the Ghost School Belle.

Compared to last night, he was like a different person.

He took out the flowers from his inventory and said, "A gift for you."

The Ghost School Belle didn't react, so Su Ming knew she didn't like it.

He tossed the flowers aside and took out a teddy bear plush toy: "This is for you."

The Ghost School Belle didn't react.

"What about this, do you like it?"

He placed the chocolates on the desk, but the Ghost School Belle still didn't react.

"It's okay, if you don't like it, we'll change it."

To be honest, the Ghost School Belle wasn't used to Su Ming's behavior today.

She felt he had ulterior motives.

Lipstick, cosmetics, new clothes, lighters, hair ties, bricks, warmers, sanitary pads, oil, salt, sauces, pots, pans...

He spent the whole morning, but none of it interested the Ghost School Belle.

Until Su Ming threw a stack of test papers in front of her.

He could clearly see her gaze drawn to the test papers, her black hair involuntarily flipping through them.

"Oh."

Su Ming's eyes lit up; he finally found something the Ghost School Belle was interested in.

"Are you a top student?"

"I see you sitting here so straight, like a top student."

As soon as he said this, the Ghost School Belle's fingers moved slightly.

Great, he hit the key point.

This girl was indeed a top student in life.

Even in death, she was interested in test papers.

Su Ming immediately exited the classroom and rummaged through his room for a long time, finally finding his 10-point math test paper.

Re-entering the classroom, he squatted beside the Ghost School Belle like a good student, saying eagerly, "School Belle sister, my grades are terrible, can you teach me?"

Good, good, good.

Last night, he was calling himself "I."

Today, it's "School Belle sister."

How can a person's face be so thick?

The Ghost School Belle glanced at Su Ming's test paper, disdain flashing in her eyes.

It was as if she had seen something dirty; she gently pushed the test paper aside and even wiped her hands on her clothes.

Although she didn't speak, it made the veins on Su Ming's forehead throb.

Question: What does it feel like to be despised by a ghost?

Su Ming said: I want to kill her, I definitely want to kill her.
